LED acrylic light box used for retail display applications

How to Specify an SEG Light Box for a Retail Rollout

A procurement checklist for multi-store SEG light box programs covering size schedules, graphics, lighting consistency, regional electrical requirements, labels, spares, packing and phased delivery.

Retail rollouts fail more often from coordination errors than from the basic light box concept. A strong specification should control the size matrix, graphic fit, lighting appearance, electrical configuration, store labeling, packing and installation information before mass production starts.

Start with a store-by-store size matrix

Do not send one average size and expect the supplier to manage the exceptions later. Build a list by store or location with finished dimensions, orientation, quantity, mounting method and any special access condition. This becomes the control document for drawing approval, packing labels and shipment planning.

Define the graphic system before printing

  • Confirm the visible area and finished fabric size.
  • Use one approved artwork/template convention across the rollout.
  • Confirm silicone-edge dimensions and sewing direction with the frame system.
  • Approve a sample graphic fit before bulk printing when the project scale justifies it.

Control lighting consistency across stores

For a rollout, the buyer should define the required lighting appearance instead of relying on adjectives. Confirm CCT, any CRI requirement, the method used to evaluate visible dark areas or hotspots, and whether replacement modules must match the original batch closely enough for future maintenance.

Regional electrical requirements matter

If the same rollout covers multiple countries, separate the electrical requirement by destination. Input voltage, plug, driver location and local compliance requirements can differ. A single global SKU may still need different power accessories or labels.

Store labeling and packing logic

Multi-location projects are easier to install when cartons and components are labeled by store, zone or fixture number. Ask the supplier to align the packing list with the rollout schedule so installers do not need to sort mixed components on site.

Rollout control pointWhat to define
Size scheduleStore ID, dimensions, orientation, quantity
GraphicsTemplate, visible area, fabric finish, revision control
LightingCCT, appearance standard, uniformity acceptance method
ElectricalCountry, voltage, plug, driver/access location
PackingStore label, carton contents, spare parts, phased shipment
InstallationMounting detail, fasteners, drawings, assembly sequence

Use a golden sample before scale-up

For a large rollout, an approved sample can act as the reference for size, finish, graphic fit, lighting appearance and packing logic. The sample should be tied to a drawing or specification revision so production teams and the buyer are reviewing the same configuration.

Prepare the RFQ as a project brief

Include the store count, size matrix, quantity by size, mounting type, artwork status, destination countries, voltage/plug needs, required delivery waves and installation deadline. This creates a far more accurate quotation than “please quote 100 light boxes.”
