Custom LED Light Box & SEG Display Manufacturer
A lit wall is judged against the light falling around it. The eye reads brightness relatively, so a face needs a clear margin over the ambient light or the backlight disappears into the room.
That is why the same light box can look premium in a dark exhibition hall and washed out under a glass roof. The product did not change; the room did.
| Venue condition | Booth face light | What backlight does |
|---|---|---|
| Blacked-out hall | Under 200 lux | Reads as a glowing wall |
| Aisle-lit hall | 200-500 lux | Works if the face is 2-3x brighter than the wall |
| Track-lit stand | 500-1,000 lux | Competes; print clarity matters more |
| Glass atrium, midday | Several thousand lux | Reads pale; do not pay for light |
| Outdoor tent, daylight | 10,000 lux plus | Invisible until dusk |
Take the reading at the booth position rather than in the middle of the aisle. A phone light-meter app is a rough guide; a meter settles the decision.
Face luminance. 1,000 to 3,000 nits for a typical hall.
Contrast. Two to three times the surrounding wall as perceived.
Uniformity. 85 to 95 percent across the face. Below 80 percent, bands and LED dots become visible.
Colour rendering. A high index keeps brand colours and skin tones natural under the light.
Dark halls and evening events. The lit face becomes the brightest object in the aisle.
Product detail. Cosmetics, jewellery, printed samples: backlight lifts perceived sharpness.
Window and back-of-stand positions. A lit box in shadow works where a printed wall disappears.
Night markets and evening retail. After dusk the ambient light falls away and the face becomes the sign.
Bright atriums. Daylight overwhelms the box and the print looks duller than a plain white wall.
Stands with good track lighting. Adding light behind the graphic adds wiring and little else.
Short shows with a tight power allowance. Lit walls need outlets, drivers and a circuit plan.
Photography-led stands. A matte unlit wall gives the photographer an easier exposure behind people.
One driver per face, headroom on the circuit, and a cable route planned before the booth is built. Ask for a 24 to 48 hour burn-in before packing, and carry one spare driver: a single failure takes a whole face dark, and a spare turns it into a ten-minute swap.
1. Measure the booth face at the busiest hour.
2. If ambient is under 500 lux, backlight is worth pricing.
3. If daylight dominates, spend the money on print and frame instead.
4. Either way, demand uniformity above 85 percent and a low-light photograph of the face.
Only with enough contrast. Under 200 to 500 lux of ambient light they read strongly; in a glass atrium at several thousand lux they read as a pale panel.
About 1,000 to 3,000 nits on the face for a typical hall, roughly two to three times the surrounding wall as the eye sees it.
Take a meter reading at the booth face at the busiest hour, and note whether the hall has a skylight or track fixtures.
Both matter, but a face at 2,000 nits with 60 percent uniformity shows bands. 85 to 95 percent uniformity looks cleaner than extra output.
Yes. A tension frame with a printed skin works with the light off, which suits bright halls and tight power allowances.
Depth decides how flat a lit face stays across a large span and how much light spreads before it reaches the print. A shallow profile suits small panels close to the viewer; wider panels usually need more depth.
Ask for the depth in millimetres and a photograph of a large face at low room light. The photograph shows uniformity in a way a specification cannot.
Carry one spare driver and a spare fuse, and know where the drivers are mounted. A single failure takes a face dark, and a swap on the second morning keeps the stand looking finished for the rest of the week.
We will reply within 2 hours.
